Does Ring it Up support first generation iPads?
No, Apple has required that all updates submitted after February 1st 2015 must include support for the latest 64 bit devices. Unfortunately, to enable this 64 bit option, we must utilize the latest versions of the Software Development kit that Apple provides and that kit no longer supports the first generation iPad. If you have a first generation iPad and wish to continue using Ring it Up, you should not attempt to update Ring it Up as any future updates starting at version 6.2.7 will no long function on your device and there is no way for us to provide you with an older version.

What’s the best way to copy data on one device to another device?
- Sign up for and link Ring it Up to a Dropbox account.
- backup the source device.
- Once that is completed, link the other device to the same Dropbox account, then restore the backup that was just made.
-
Can Ring it Up “sync” my data between multiple iPhones or iPads?
No, not really. Ring it Up cannot sync data captured on multiple devices into one single database. Because of this, it is recommended that only one device is used at a time to capture sales data. If more than one instance of Ring it Up is being used, it is then best to keep the data on one device completely separate from the other devices. When it is time to run reports to see how your business is doing, it would be necessary to run the sales reports on all the devices then tally them up manually.

How do I delete everything out of the database and start over?
Remove the app from your phone, then reinstall it, or go to the active business section of the settings and create another business. When you restart Ring it Up, it will start you out with an empty database.
-
Is there a limit to the number contacts, or catalog items I may enter into Ring it Up?
Theoretically, No. Practically, Yes. Ring it Up runs on a phone, not a super computer. All apps on the iPhone platform are limited by the physical memory of the device, the processor speed, and available storage. Coupled with the previously listed constraints, there is a fair amount of pre-processing that occurs whenever a view is about to be shown to the user and the more items that exist in the database, the longer it takes for this preprocessing to occur.

How are Refunds or Returns handled in Ring It Up?
Short answer: Delete the transaction, shopping cart item or payment to ensure your sales figures remain accurate. Doing this makes it as if it never happened.
Long Answer: Make sure that grouped is set to NO. Add another instance of item which is being returned, tap on that item and set the qty to a negative number. You can also refund payments by adding a payment with a negative amount. Be sure to add a note to those items or payments to remind yourself that the negative qty or payment amount was due to a return or refund.

How do I delete a sales transaction, catalog item, expense, or contact from Ring It Up’s database?
Swipe your finger horizontally across the row you wish to remove and a delete button will appear. Tapping the delete button will remove that record from Ring It Up. This feature has been disabled in the free version of Ring It Up as some were simply deleting past transactions to circumvent the 5 transaction limit. This only applies to transactions, users can still delete catalog items, expense items, and contacts in the free version.
